En route to Everest

To do, or not to do

From Lhakpa La I descended to Shekar and Tingri - the jumping off points for the Mt Everest Base Camp.  These days riding were the

most beautiful in all my time in Tibet.

The valleys became greener, the rivers flowing with fresh powerful water from the roof of the world.

Upon leaving Tingri I circled the road for at least 50 minutes not wanting to leave.  I set the camera up for two photos (shown) and

wondered weather to do Everest Base Camp.  I could still turn back and organise a 4WD.  It would add 2 more days to my trip.  I

decided that I couldn't take the risk - one or two days un-rideable weather and I may not make Kathmandu in time for my flight.

I pushed on, an hour later I was sure I made the right decision.  As it happens a few days later, the last 150km descent into Nepal

proved tricky with my covering only 30km in 6 hours when it should have taken me one hour.  I made the right choice.
