I left the Barkhor in Lhasa at 5.30am on Monday 19th June and followed the less travelled Southern Friendship Highway west to
Lhakpa La at an altitude of 5,250 meters.
The Southern Friendship Highway route takes us from the main highway to more remote parts of the Tsang region of Tibet and allows
us to see Yamdrok Tso en route to Gyantse, an important trading town with the country of Bhutan to the South, the chinese city of
Chengdu to the East and the Tibeten City of Shigatse to the West.
