“Dave Turner is an Adventure Cyclist and Freelance writer/photographer. He writes and photographs his journeys for mountain bike magazines in the UK, USA, Australia and New Zealand, hoping to inspire others to grab their bikes and go in search of adventure and the unknown in often far off lands. Dave is always striving to push the limits of where his bike can take him whether it be planning routes through remote tracks in the Tibetan Himalayas or riding through some of Australia’s most remote outback deserts, his Ricoh GX200 is an invaluable tool when it comes documenting his trips.
Dave started using Ricoh compacts with a 35 mm R1 ten years ago and progressed to a 35 mm GR1 before making the switch to digital only four years ago with a Ricoh GX. These days, Dave shoots almost exclusively with a GX200 using the 135 mm telephoto and wide angle 21 mm lens kits.
“I’ve grown to depend on my Ricoh. The GX200 is an amazing little camera, a prosumer level compact who’s advanced specification, size and weight makes it the perfect traveling companion in remote and often inaccessible areas. With the added flexibility of being able to use lens kits, together with Ricohs superb build quality, this camera rivals many SLRs in terms of functionality but it has the added advantage of weight and of course a compacts hidden weapon, it’s always simple & great fun to use!”.
