Arrived in Mongolia

uln

After a very long flight to Beijing and arriving in at 4am from Sydney!  Had to hang about for a day to get a connecting flight to Ullanbataar at 5pm next day.

At last I arrived in Mongolia last night and it’s really hot!  It’s 21:42 and still light outside (ahh, the northern hemisphere!),  I’ve had my head in maps all day today.  Went to a map shop in the city and pickep another 1:200,000 map but this one shows more trail detail than the one I had from Sydney.

I put my bike together and gave her a 10km test ride round ULN – OMG the cars are a nightmare!  I had to skid the bike right around 90 degrees this afternoon to avoid a car which just pulled out in front of me as if I wasn’t there, mind you the skid looked extremely cool!!  :o)

Also went to the Sukhbaatar Square and saw the 8m high statue of Mr Khan;

OK, gonna get some more route planning done then grav some sleep.  Aiming to leave ULN day after tomorrow for the Arkhangai Region, Central Mongolia with the hope to travel over the Arhangai Mountains.

Peace out -
